Frequently Asked Questions

1/ I installed Rexplorer and nothing seems to happen ?
ReXplorer is a kind of an "explorer plug-in" ; it's not an executable by itself but it rather plugs itself in Windows' Explorer. You may start noticing ReXplorer when you'll hover over a replay file and see the tooltip containing information about the replay appear.

2/ How to display the new column in the Details view of Windows' Explorer ?
Just right click on the column bar and select "Others.." in the popup menu. At the end of the list, you will find ReXplorer's custom columns : Map, Duration, Matchup... like on this screenshot :

3/ Since I installed ReXplorer there are some mysterious "repcache" hidden files here and there on my hard drive.
Don't worry, this is normal. In every folder containing .rep files, ReXplorer builds a cache (the same way as windows do with thumbs.db) storing information about replays, like APM or map name. This cache speeds up further accesses to the directory and this is what the repcache file is for.

4/ Explorer crashes each and every time I enter a folder containing .rep files.
We would thank you for reporting every problem you may encounter with ReXplorer, especially if you can provide us some precise information about the crash. In this case, it might come from the repcache file that may be corrupted for any reason. Therefore, copy this file somewhere into a directory which does not contain any .rep file and send it to us. If the crashes are really caused by ReXplorer, then a solution is to uninstall ReXplorer from your system and wait for a any answer from us.

5/ what are the Windows versions ReXplorer works on ?
Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Media Center. Actually, all 32-bit desktop versions starting from Windows 2000. We do NOT recommend installing ReXplorer on another version (Windows 95/98/Me/NT...). Windows 64 was not tested but there are chances the installer doesn't even run and if it does, ReXplorer is most likely not to work.

6/ ReXplorer (or its installer) complains it doesn't find StarCraft
Your StarCraft's installation, if there is one, is buggy. Sometimes, StarCraft can work without having been installed properly. Some components of Rexplorer, however, need a clean install of StarCraft to work fine.

7/ Some components are grayed and disabled in the installer or in ReXplorer's configuration tool
These components need StarCraft files to work (minimap extraction, replays direct loading in StarCraft, minimap on thumbnails). If they don't find any StarCraft installation, then they will naturally be disabled. If you think StarCraft is installed then it's probably not installed correctly.

8/ I'm on Windows 2000 and some components stopped working
If you recently installed a program handling replays (like BWChart or LMRB), it might screw up ReXplorer's components registration. Just open ReXplorer's configuration tool and reactivate components that have been disabled. That should do the trick.

9/ I can't find the uninstall.exe to uninstall ReXplorer !
This odd thing can happen if you forced a reinstallation without rebooting like the 2.0 installer prompted you to. To fix this, simply reinstall ReXplorer 2.0 : the installer will tell you something went wrong and then install OVER the existing installation. This time, reboot when the installer prompts you to ;)

10/ Some files remain after uninstallation
Have you rebooted your computer just like the uninstaller surely asked you to ? If you didn't, now is a good time to do so :) If you already did, then it must come from specific administator rights that your user doesn'ehave. Don't worry, just delete these files and it should be OK. But do this ONLY if you've already uninstalled ReXplorer AND rebooted, otherwise you might have some troubles with your system.

11/ There are white dots over the minimaps displayed in Common Tasks (or in Web View) ?
Yeah, this is a known issue. For some reason, Windows renders some colors as transparent ones in Common Tasks and in Web View ; we don't know why, since the minimap we make in that case is the same as the one you will get using the "Extract Minimap" feature. If anyone has a clue about it, it'll be welcome :)
